"No Rancho Fundo" is a historical piece that I always listen with pleasure.

The song is the result of a parceria between two authors, a well-known as Ary Barroso and Lamartine Babo in a certain I guiltily unknown. Quello che colpisce subito, inutile negarlo, è l’aspetto non proprio affascinante di Lamartine Babo, fisico magrissimo, un testone sproporzionato e una fronte che sembra tirata con Photoshop. Lalà sfruttò la propensione alla battuta, ai giochi di parole, alla comicità nonsense sia come collaboratore di riviste satiriche che come personaggio radiofonico.  Scorro la lista dei brani per cui è ricordato ancora oggi: diversi samba, valsas (" Eu Sonhei que Tu Estavas tão Linda ”), sertanejas (“No Rancho fundo”, appunto) ma soprattutto una lista infinita di “marchinhas”  scritte nell’ “Época de Ouro" del carnevale: tra queste "O Teu cabelo não Nega" (composta più di 80 anni fa, insieme a Irmãos Valença) è certamente tra la più memorabili e ancor oggi riproposta sui carri musicali dei vari carnevali brasiliani.
